FOLIO / SPECIFICATION / PURCHASING GUIDE
Prepare the question
before the decision.
Start with the identities that belong in the conversation, then state the reason for comparing them. Appearance, sample correspondence and source applicability are different comparison topics. Keep unanswered attributes open instead of ranking objects by an invented value. Ask the actual provider for the current source of each proposed item and record whether the sample represents that item and issue. If the shortlist or project scope changes, reopen the affected relationships. A local record order can help prepare a conversation, but it is not a priority decision, quantity schedule or supplied set. Read the document-bundle note before taking the blank worksheet to the responsible provider. The specification desk keeps identities and unresolved questions together without approving a selection or sending an inquiry.
Read the individual records first.
Every dossier gives its identity, visible appearance direction and the question left unresolved. Keep product identity and evidence applicability separate. A concept image is useful for describing a preference; it cannot establish the actual item, physical sample or current source.
Screen Module
Which sample and source describe the proposed screen identity and its applicable scope?
Cap Module
Which counterpart and current source identify the proposed cap record?
Corner Module
Which two counterpart references and source issues belong to this corner question?
Use the field notes for the next step.
Choose the note that matches the relationship under discussion. Do not turn a generic attachment or source note into a complete answer for every record. Retain old sources as history when the proposed issue or context changes, with their relationship to the current proposal visible.
Comparison notes — Choose the comparison question before choosing a winner.
Source register — Each shortlist record needs its own current reference.
Sample review — A visual preference and a reviewed sample are different decisions.
Scope changes — Keep the record while reopening its relationship.
Quantity context — A shortlist count is not a commercial quantity.
Document bundle — Carry identities and open questions with every record.
