FICTIONAL B2B DESIGN STUDY / NO SUPPLIER OFFERVOLUME 01 · 2026
SIZE & PACKING WORKSHEET FIELDNOTE / 05

Make room
for the real load.

Explore how an outer design envelope differs from usable space. These unvalidated dimensions are invented for the concept; the calculation is a rectangular bounding box, not tested packing capacity or airline compliance.

01 / SET A WORKING ENVELOPE

Measure the object.
Then test the pack.

The worksheet multiplies height, width and depth. It deliberately makes no allowance for curved corners, wheels, handles, lining or unusable spaces. A packing trial with the actual contents is still required.

RECTANGULAR BOUNDING BOX / CONCEPT ONLY

41.58litres of bounding-box volume

Study dimensions only. Not tested usable capacity.

02 / PHYSICAL FIT REVIEW

Three measurements, then a real trial.

01

External envelope

Record the largest external points with the bag in its intended travel state. Include protrusions and note whether an expansion feature is open.

02

Access envelope

Measure the clear opening, not only the main cavity. A rigid item may fit inside yet fail to pass through the opening.

03

Representative contents

Use the actual contents and loading sequence. Record closure effort, bulging, stability and access to frequently used items.

Do not call this “cabin approved”.

Carrier limits can depend on the route, fare and operating airline. This template does not retrieve those rules or establish compliance. Check the applicable carrier information separately, then measure the actual sample with wheels and handles included.
