APPLICATION NOTES FIELDNOTE / 02

Design for
the moment of use.

A travel-goods brief becomes more useful when it describes the sequence of access. Pick an occasion, then record the items and movements that matter.

01 / CITY TRANSFER

Platform.
Pavement.
Desk.

For a short cross-city journey, access may matter more than maximum volume. A device, charger and personal essentials should be considered as a set. Decide what needs to be reachable while the main bay stays closed.

Investigate
Side-grip reach, device opening and harness stowage
Bring to the review
The actual device in its case and a representative loaded walking trial
Explore Transfer Pack
02 / MULTI-STOP JOURNEY

Arrive.
Open.
Repack.

When the user moves between locations, the way the bag opens changes the space needed around it. Discuss whether the two halves should lie flat, whether the divider stays attached, and where contents move while the bag is upright.

Investigate
Open footprint, wheel clearance and divider access
Bring to the review
The proposed packing set and destination-specific size constraints
Explore Transit Shell
03 / FLEXIBLE WEEKEND

Load.
Lift.
Leave.

Bulky, irregular contents make a different brief from folded clothing. Identify the largest object first, then review the mouth of the bag, strap attachment position and whether an internal base helps or obstructs the task.

Investigate
Opening width, handle drop and shoulder-strap balance
Bring to the review
The bulkiest item and a loaded lift from both carry modes

RETAIL / PRIVATE-LABEL / COLLABORATIVE DEVELOPMENT

One brief, several stakeholders.

01

Product team

Own the use case, silhouette and design decisions. Mark the features that are essential and the choices still open.

02

Sourcing team

Ask for the approved drawing, sample reference, cost basis and lead-time assumptions. Do not turn a concept page into a supplier commitment.

03

Quality team

Agree measurable acceptance criteria, the test method and the sample condition. A pleasing image is not a result.

YOUR NEXT DEVELOPMENT CONVERSATION

Describe a moment, not just a bag.

Add one access problem to the sample brief so the review has a clear purpose.
