The beam is the wrong shape
A narrow beam on a wide surface leaves a hot spot; a wide beam on a corridor wastes light on the walls. The beam angle is a drawing decision.

LIGHTING / FICTIONAL RANGE
LUMENFOLD is a fictional lighting range covering pendant shades, wall lights and track spotlights. What decides a fitting is not how it looks switched off but what it does to a surface: the beam, the colour and the glare are the specification.
Each product in this range fails in a way that is only visible once it is installed and lit.

02
Two fittings of the same colour temperature can still differ visibly side by side, and the difference only shows once both are lit.
03
A bright source in the field of view is uncomfortable regardless of how much light it delivers. Recessing the source is the usual answer.
A fitting is bought for what it does to a surface, not for what it looks like on a shelf.Fictional range note
Three numbers that decide a lighting scheme before any fitting is chosen.
Three fittings, each answering a different part of a scheme.
Product
A spun brass dome on a cord, with the source recessed inside. The recess is the design, because it is what keeps the lamp out of the field of view.

A frosted cylinder standing off a back plate on a short arm. It lights a wall rather than a room, which is a different specification.

A spotlight on a track section, with a yoke that aims it. The aiming range is the specification, because a spotlight that cannot be aimed is a pendant.
