Instrument 01 / 6-inch study
Drift 6The pocket chapter
A reading instrument for short gaps and long chapters. Drift puts a simple text page inside a compact, deliberately asymmetric shell.
Fictional instruments. All sizes and features are illustrative concept values, awaiting sample verification.

Design intention
A cropped corner. A smaller footprint.
The cropped top corner makes the silhouette easy to identify inside a sleeve. Two round keys sit below the screen so a reader can try tactile page navigation without changing the page layout. The concept prioritizes reflowable text over dense documents.
The tradeoff
A compact canvas asks more of a fixed-layout document. A page designed for print may need zoom and navigation; the concept should not be selected for that task from diagonal size alone.

Sample evaluation
Try the whole sequence.
Use one chapter with footnotes, one illustrated chapter and a long table of contents. Check page progression, return-to-place behavior and reach to both keys with the same grip.
Three questions still open
- 01
How does the cropped corner affect a protective sleeve?
- 02
Can a long document retain its place after a restart?
- 03
What does a representative page-turn sequence look like?
Charging, runtime, durability, file compatibility and market documentation are also unverified. The rendered device is an original illustration of intent; it is not sample evidence.
From comparison to questions
Keep the limitations in the brief.
This instrument’s open questions travel with the comparison. The exported record remains local and NOT SENT.
