REVISION
A film revision is a machine setting.
Stretch film and dispenser consumables are run on equipment set to a specification. A material change that is not passed to the machine is a change that will not be reproduced.
- Revision letter
- Every change, however small, gets one
- What changed
- The property, the value and the reason
- Machine impact
- Whether the pre-stretch or the tension setting has to change
- When it took effect
- Which batch or which delivery was the first to carry it
- What it supersedes
- Which revision the new one replaces
- Stock
- Whether old and new rolls may be run in the same week
| Rev | Change | Reason | Machine impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Stretch raised to 250 percent | Film breaking at the previous setting | Pre-stretch reduced |
| B | Seal adhesive widened 4 mm | Corners lifting on cold days | None |
| C | Core changed to 76 mm | Roll did not fit the machine mandrel | Mandrel changed |
Why the machine column belongs on the log.
Because a material revision that is not passed to the machine produces different results from the same roll. The film is not the product; the film on the machine at a setting is the product.
The habit worth copying.
Recording which delivery first carried the revision. Without it, two specifications run in the same week and the resulting damage figures cannot be attributed.
