TURNSTONEPrecision machining / demo

DEMO — fictional range. Local brief only, NOT SENT. No personal data is collected or transmitted.

RANGE

Three parts, and how each one drifts.

The range covers threaded standoffs, grooved pulleys and slotted brackets. Each part page carries the feature that moves first across a run and the questions worth settling before a drawing is issued.

Original 3D render of a hex standoffs.

Part

Hex standoffs

Threaded spacers turned from hex bar, counterbored at both ends. Bought in hundreds, so consistency across batches is the specification.

Original 3D render of a grooved pulley.

Part

Grooved pulley

A single-groove pulley with a keyed bore and a pressed hub. The groove profile and the bore are turned in one setup.

Original 3D render of a slotted angle bracket.

Part

Slotted angle bracket

An L bracket with slotted holes on both flanges. The slots exist so the part can be adjusted on site, which is also why position tolerance matters less than flatness.

How the range is organised.

By what drifts rather than by what the part is. A standoff drifts at the counterbore, a pulley at the keyway, a bracket at the faces that seat.

Threaded parts
Drift at the thread and the counterbore · gauged rather than measured
Turned parts
Drift at the groove and the bore · both turned in one setup
Formed parts
Drift at the faces that seat · formed then faced
Plated parts
Drift at the coating thickness · measured before or after, not both
