Drawing register

A title is not enough to identify an applicable source.

A drawing register connects a source with its identifier, issue, date and subject. Record who supplied it and which proposed component it describes. A drawing that names a face module may leave a supporting or junction relationship unanswered. Keep that distinction visible rather than treating a general file name as evidence for every module.

When sources are replaced, retain the old identifier and explain the relationship to the new record. A proposed change, a current supplied drawing and a reviewed decision are different states. Mark the sources that need another check after a changed issue, including related counterpart references. Do not promote a file to approval merely because it opens successfully.

Before preparing the local brief, choose the component and name the drawing question you want the actual provider to answer. The layer study gives that question a visible place next to its identity. It does not upload, inspect or approve a drawing, and the fictional revision labels do not establish the issue of any real file.

Keep these fields together

  • Drawing identifier
  • Issue and date
  • Component/subject
  • Source owner
  • Related changed sources

Use the blank source worksheet to record actual information from the responsible provider. Fields are intentionally empty; the fictional collection does not supply a decision, current document or real project record.
