REVISION
A source revision is a scheme revision.
Changing an emitter changes the room. A revision that looks like a component swap is a revision to every layout drawn around the old one.
- Revision letter
- Every change, however small, gets one
- What changed
- The property, the value and the reason
- Scheme impact
- Whether the layout, the fitting count or the dimming has to be re-drawn
- When it took effect
- Which batch was the first made to the new revision
- What it supersedes
- Which revision the new one replaces
- Spares
- Whether a fitting bought later will match one already installed
| Rev | Change | Reason | Scheme impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Output raised 520 to 610 lumens | Scheme came out under target | Fitting count reduced |
| B | Beam narrowed 36 to 28 degrees | Pool too soft on the table | Layout re-drawn |
| C | Dimming floor lowered | Flicker at low level | None |
Why the spares column belongs on the log.
Because a scheme is added to. A fitting bought two years later sits beside one already installed, and if the revision moved the colour or the output the difference is visible immediately.
The habit worth copying.
Recording which batch was the first made to the new revision. Without it, two revisions are in one room and nobody can say which is which.
