ITEM / FICTIONAL EXAMPLE
Woven label
A woven centre-back label with a stitched border. It is a legal document as well as a brand mark, because the fibre content and the care symbols are on it.

How it is made.
Woven on a loom to the artwork, then cut and folded. The weave is what makes the text survive washing, which is why the fibre content is woven rather than printed.

What a photograph cannot show.
How it behaves after five washes. A garment is bought on appearance and returned on shrinkage, colour loss or a seam that has gone, and none of those are visible on the day it is photographed.
What it cannot show either.
Whether the size is the size. A garment labelled the same as another can differ by centimetres between factories, and that is a grading decision rather than a sewing fault.
