ITEM / FICTIONAL EXAMPLE
Folded knit
A folded fine-gauge knit, presented as it arrives from the factory. The fold is the specification: it is how the garment is measured, packed and re-folded in a shop.

How it is made.
Knitted to a panel, linked at the seams and washed, then folded to a template. The fold template is what makes a stack of them the same size, and it is the first thing a buyer changes when a shelf looks wrong.

Every value above is an illustrative example for a fictional range. It is not a quotation, a specification or a measurement of any real item.
What a photograph cannot show.
How it behaves after five washes. A garment is bought on appearance and returned on shrinkage, colour loss or a seam that has gone, and none of those are visible on the day it is photographed.
What it cannot show either.
Whether the size is the size. A garment labelled the same as another can differ by centimetres between factories, and that is a grading decision rather than a sewing fault.
