REVISION
A revision to the block moves every size.
Changing the body block changes what the run grades to. A revision that looks local is a revision to every size in the run.
- Revision letter
- Every change, however small, gets one
- What changed
- The feature, the value and the reason
- Size impact
- Whether every size in the run has to be regraded
- Fabric impact
- Whether the marker and the lay plan change
- When it took effect
- Which run was the first made to the new revision
- What it supersedes
- Which revision the new one replaces
| Rev | Change | Reason | Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Chest step reduced 1 cm | Ends of the run read too large | Every size regraded |
| B | Cap ease reduced 0.3 cm | Sleeve gathered at the shoulder | Sleeve block only |
| C | Shrinkage allowance raised 1% | Garment a size out after wash | Marker and lay plan |
Why the size impact column belongs here.
Because a block change is never local. A revision that leaves one size correct and the run invalid produces garments nobody can reproduce, and the error surfaces at the screening table rather than in review.
The habit worth copying.
Recording which run was the first made to the new revision. Without it, a run sits between two blocks and nobody can say which shape it was built to.
