COLOUR LAB / 03
A palette
is not a standard.

01 / DEVELOPMENT NOTE
Create a physical anchor
Agree which physical reference governs each material. Keep the reference identifier, date and storage location with the colour record so a screen image does not silently become the standard.
- Name the reference owner.
- Record the proposed light condition.
- Keep each substrate linked to its own review.
02 / DEVELOPMENT NOTE
Review the combination
An upper and lining can be intentionally coordinated without being identical. Describe the intended relationship in plain language and request a made sample under the agreed viewing condition.
- Record whether the goal is matching or deliberate contrast.
- Ask for paired material sets, not isolated images.
- Keep the approved and rejected revisions distinguishable.
03 / DEVELOPMENT NOTE
Control a change
If the material, finish, backing or supplier reference changes, ask whether the colour decision needs to be reopened. Never transfer approval automatically from one reference to another.
- Note the reason for revision.
- Identify the decision owner and date.
- Archive the earlier record without treating it as current.
THE MATERIAL DECISION BOARD
One concept.
Several decisions.
Choose the upper, lining and colour intention. Read the sample questions that change with your choices.
The static board shows the Lilt example. JavaScript enables selections and the local record.
