COMPONENT / FICTIONAL EXAMPLE
Framed module
A framed photovoltaic module, 4 × 3 cells in this example. The frame is what the mounting system holds, so the frame section matters as much as the cells.

How it is made.
Laminated, then framed on all four sides and sealed at the corners. The frame section is what a clamp bears on, and a frame that is too thin for the clamp is the reason modules crack at the edge.

Every value above is an illustrative example for a fictional range. It is not a quotation, a structural calculation or a measurement of any real component.
What a component datasheet cannot tell you.
Whether the array holds at your site. A rail has a span and a clamp has a torque, but the load on them comes from the wind and snow at a particular place, and that is a calculation rather than a catalogue number.
What it cannot show either.
Whether the installation was done to the specification. Most mounting failures are fixings that were never tightened to the declared torque.
