DEMO — fictional range. Local brief only, NOT SENT. No personal data is collected or transmitted.

RANGE

Three parts, and what each one is for.

The range covers turned collars, milled manifold blocks and precision flanges. Each part page carries the features that decide whether it works, the measurements a first article confirms, and the questions worth settling before a drawing is issued.

Original 3D render of a turned shaft collar.

Part

Turned shaft collar

A split collar turned from bar, bored and radially clamped. The bore and the clamp screw are the two features that decide whether it holds.

Part

Milled manifold block

A block milled from plate with a face pattern of bores and cross-drilled ports. Position between features is the whole specification.

Part

Precision flange

A flange with a raised hub and a six-hole bolt circle, turned and drilled in one setup so the bore and the circle share a datum.

How the range is organised.

By the feature that decides the part rather than by the machine that makes it. A buyer asking for a collar is asking about a bore and a clamp; a buyer asking for a flange is asking about concentricity.

Turned parts
Decided by the bore, the concentricity and the finish on the turned face
Milled parts
Decided by position between features and by how the part is held while they are cut
Drilled patterns
Decided by the datum the pattern is positioned from, not by the drill size
Finishes
Decided by what the surface has to resist rather than by how it looks in a photograph
