WASH REFERENCE
The wash regime is part of the specification.
A pet good is specified by how it survives washing, because that is the only condition it really meets. This is the set worth stating.
- Temperature
- The number the part is actually tested at, not a maximum
- Cycle
- Because a fast cycle and a normal cycle are different tests
- Drying
- Line or machine, because heat is what compresses fill
- Cycles
- How many before the part is measured again
- Removable parts
- What comes out, and what does not
- Recovery
- What the part measures after the stated cycles
Illustrative wash reference
| Regime | Typical value | How it fails |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature | 40°C | Fill compresses and does not recover |
| Cycle | Normal, 1200 rpm | Fill migrates where the quilting lets it |
| Drying | Line, not machine | Heat sets a compression that never lifts |
| Cycles | 20 before the check | A part that meets the first wash and not the twentieth |
Why the cycle count is stated.
Because a part that survives one wash is not a part that survives a year. A number measured after twenty cycles describes the product an animal meets; one measured after a single wash describes none.
The one worth avoiding.
A fill quoted only by weight. Fill either recovers or it does not, and the weight says nothing about which.
