REVISION
A revision to the rim changes the whole bed.
A bed is specified by its rim, and the rim is the part that is revised most often. A revision to it moves the cushion, the cover and the size run.
- Revision letter
- Every change, however small, gets one
- What changed
- The feature, the value and the reason
- Cover impact
- Whether the cover has to be re-cut
- Cushion impact
- Whether the inner has to be re-made
- When it took effect
- Which batch was the first made to the new revision
- What it supersedes
- Which revision the new one replaces
| Rev | Change | Reason | Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Rim height reduced 15 mm | Rim collapsed after washing | Cover and cushion re-made |
| B | Quilt interval reduced to 80 mm | Fill migrated to the corners | Cushion only |
| C | Foot material changed | Bowls slid on a wet floor | Bowl stand only |
Why the cover impact column belongs here.
Because the rim and the cover are one piece geometrically. A revision that changes the height and leaves the pattern valid produces a cover that does not close, and the error surfaces at the making bench rather than in review.
The habit worth copying.
Recording which batch was the first made to the new revision. Without it, a batch sits between two rims and nobody can say which height it was built to.
