GUIDE

The order the questions are worth asking in.

This is the sequence a pet-goods programme follows when it goes well, and the point at which each step becomes expensive to revisit.

1 · The animal
Weight and posture, because a rim leans or it does not
2 · The behaviour
Because leaning, scratching, pushing and chewing choose materials
3 · The wash
Temperature, cycle, drying, and how many cycles before the check
4 · The recovery
What the part measures after those cycles
5 · The materials
Grade and weight, with the certificate that travels
6 · The bowl
Tip angle and foot adhesion, on a stated surface
7 · The quantity
And the split across sizes and colours
8 · The inspection
Rim recovery and quilt migration, after the wash
Why the order matters.

Each step constrains the next. Choosing a material before the behaviour is choosing an abrasion life for a use nobody has named, and choosing a fill before the wash regime is choosing a recovery for a condition nobody has defined.

Where programmes usually go wrong.

Step one, treated as a size, and step three, left at a temperature without a count. Both are cheap to settle and expensive to discover once a run is made.
