DOCUMENTS
What travels with a run of pet goods.
A pet-goods run arrives with paperwork or it arrives as a bag of parts. These are the documents worth asking for, and what each one establishes.
- Material declaration
- Grade and weight, because abrasion is a material property
- Wash specification
- Temperature, cycle and drying, stated as a regime
- Recovery record
- What the part measures after the stated cycles
- Quilt migration record
- Checked at the corners, after the wash
- Tip angle record
- Measured, because a bowl either tips or it does not
- Foot adhesion record
- On a stated surface, wet and dry
- Revision statement
- Which revision the batch was made to, and its recovery
- Labelling statement
- Wash instructions and the market's required markings
An illustrative list for a fictional range. A real programme agrees which documents are required, in what form, and how long they are retained.
The one that is most often missing.
The recovery record. A rim that meets a new part and fails a washed one is the ordinary failure, and it cannot be reconstructed after the goods are packed.
Why the tip angle is a number and not a statement.
Because a bowl either tips or it does not. A statement that a bowl is weighted describes a design; an angle describes how much load it takes before it moves.
