Keep a blank reference
Ask for a body without print beside the decorated sample. This helps identify which layer caused a visible change.
REGISTRE / 06 / surface studies
FICTIONAL CONCEPTThese oversized specimens name four screen directions. Use them to describe intent, then supply a physical reference for the actual material and surface.
COLOUR RECORDS
| Record | Why it matters | Bring to the review |
|---|---|---|
| Base body reference | The coloured material or coating can look different across thickness, texture and substrate. | A labelled physical master or chip; supplier-confirmed material and finish. |
| Print ink reference | A printed colour sits on top of the body. Coverage and opacity may change its appearance. | Ink drawdown or printed sample on the specified substrate. |
| Finished reference | A final coating or metallic layer can change the perceived colour and sheen. | A decorated finished sample with every layer identified. |
PHYSICAL REVIEW
Ask for a body without print beside the decorated sample. This helps identify which layer caused a visible change.
Agree viewing light, background, sample orientation and who will assess the result. A phone photograph is a supporting record.
The supplier and buyer must agree a method and tolerance suited to the product. This demo does not invent a numerical matching tolerance.
NEXT STUDY
No screen value on this page is a calibrated production specification or a licensed colour-system designation. The specimen names are fictional studio labels. Save a direction in the proof desk and include the physical reference you will provide in the local request.
