Uncoated
Keep a baseline body so you can identify the effect of adding a surface layer.
REGISTRE / 09 / surface studies
FICTIONAL CONCEPTAn uncoated direction, satin coating and gloss coating are separate requests. A finish name does not establish the chemistry or performance of a coating system.
Keep a baseline body so you can identify the effect of adding a surface layer.
Ask for a physical appearance reference and the proposed coating system.
Inspect reflections, coverage and the appearance of print beneath the finish.
Schematic sheen studies / appearance and performance unverified
COATING RECORD
| Record | Question |
|---|---|
| Substrate preparation | What material, cleaning or surface treatment is required for the proposed system? |
| Layer sequence | Does coating occur before or after the print and metallic detail? Which areas are masked? |
| Physical reference | Which sample defines the required sheen, feel and appearance? |
| Exposure and use | Which agreed conditions represent formula contact, handling, filling, assembly and storage? |
SAMPLE REVIEW
Record whether the layer changes base colour, ink contrast or metallic reflection. Compare to a blank body and a printed control.
A smooth or glossy appearance is not proof of adhesion or chemical compatibility. Identify the qualified test owner and method.
Tie the result to the actual substrate, coating system and decoration revision. A change to any layer requires a new review decision.
