PINNACLEBoard connectors / demo

DEMO — fictional range. Local brief only, NOT SENT. No personal data is collected or transmitted.

RANGE

Three board connectors, and how each one is terminated.

The range covers ribbon IDC, board headers and shielded backshells. Each product page carries the feature that decides the connection and the questions worth settling before an order.

Product

Ribbon IDC

An insulation-displacement connector for ribbon cable. It terminates ten conductors in one operation, which is the whole reason it exists.

Product

Pin header

A two-row header with square pins in an insulator block. The pin is square rather than round because the mating socket is a tuning-fork contact.

Product

Shielded backshell

A two-part shell that closes over a cable entry and bonds the shield. The bond is the specification, because a shield that is not bonded is an antenna.

How the range is organised.

By how the connection is made rather than by what the part looks like. An IDC part is decided by its tool, a header by its plating, a backshell by its bond.

Mass-terminated parts
Decided by the tool and the press depth, because one operation makes every joint
Mated parts
Decided by the plating, because that is what wears
Shielded parts
Decided by the bond, because the shield is only a conductor
Board parts
Decided by the pitch and the pin form, because the socket grips a face
