BOARD CONNECTORS / FICTIONAL RANGE

A footprint is not an interface.

PINNACLE is a fictional board-connector range covering ribbon IDC parts, pin headers and shielded backshells. The site is organised around the connection rather than the footprint: two parts that mate mechanically can still differ in plating, in return path and in how they were terminated.

Three parts, three ways a connection fails.

Each part in this range fails somewhere that is not visible from outside, and each failure is decided before the order.

What a datasheet cannot decide.

Four things that belong to the assembly rather than to the component.

The tool
Because a mass-terminated joint is qualified by the press that made it
The return path
Because a signal without a return is a loop
The cycles
Because they decide the plating rather than the price
The bond
Because screening is a resistance figure, not a feature
