GARDEN WATERING / FICTIONAL RANGE
Almost everything here is carried full.
HEDGEROW is a fictional garden range covering watering cans, hose reels and compost caddies. The site is organised around what happens when the product is full, wet and put down in a hurry: balance, seals and the parts that wear out are what decide it.
Three products, three things that wear.
Each product in this range fails at a different place, and in each case the part that fails is the part that moves.

Hose reel
The swivel, because it is the only joint that rotates under pressure

Compost caddy
The filter and the gasket, because both are consumables

Four things that belong to daily use rather than to the product.
- Balance when full
- Because a full can is carried further than a half-full one
- Where it is stored
- Because a reel in the sun ages differently from one in a shed
- How often it is emptied
- Because a caddy emptied daily never smells, and one emptied weekly always does
- Who carries it
- Because weight in the hand is a different number from weight on a shelf
